Cancer Antigen (CA) 27.29
This test measures the amount of CA 27.29, a protein often released into the bloodstream by breast cancer cells. It is primarily used to monitor patients who have already been treated for breast cancer to help determine if the treatment is working or if the disease is returning. Rising levels over time can signal a recurrence, while stable levels generally suggest the condition is under control. However, this test cannot diagnose breast cancer on its own and is not used to screen the general public for the disease.
