Prostate-specific Antigen (PSA), Ultrasensitive (Serial Monitor)

This test measures extremely low levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA), a protein produced by the prostate gland. It is primarily used to monitor men after prostate cancer treatment to see if PSA levels remain undetectable or are beginning to rise. Tracking these minute changes helps doctors identify if cancer cells may be returning before they would appear on a standard test. However, a rising level alone does not locate the cancer or confirm a specific diagnosis without further medical evaluation.
