This test measures the level of Interleukin-2 (IL-2), a protein in your blood that signals white blood cells to grow and fight infections. It helps show how active your immune system is, which is useful when evaluating conditions involving chronic inflammation or autoimmune disorders. While these results help distinguish between an overactive immune response and a suppressed one, this test cannot identify the specific cause of the immune activity or diagnose a disease by itself.
