# Chromogranin A

> This test measures the level of Chromogranin A, a protein produced by neuroendocrine cells found throughout the body. It helps show whether there is excess production of this protein, which can indicate the presence or progression of neuroendocrine tumors. Doctors often use this measurement to monitor how these tumors respond to treatment. However, this test cannot confirm a diagnosis by itself because common medications, such as acid reducers, and kidney or liver issues can also cause elevated levels.
