It helps show the severity of inflammation in your body, which is often elevated during bacterial infections or chronic inflammatory conditions. This measurement assists doctors in distinguishing between widespread infection, such as sepsis, and less severe immune responses. However, this test cannot identify the specific cause of the inflammation or diagnose a specific disease on its own.
