Galectin-3 With NT-proBNP

This test measures two proteins in the blood that indicate how well the heart is functioning and if the heart tissue is becoming stiff or scarred. It helps doctors evaluate heart failure by showing both current stress on the heart muscle and the risk of long-term structural damage. These results help distinguish whether symptoms like shortness of breath are caused by heart problems rather than lung issues. However, this test does not identify the specific underlying cause of heart disease, such as a blocked artery or a genetic defect, without additional imaging or exams.
