It helps show whether you currently have an infection, have recovered from a past infection, or are immune due to vaccination. The results help doctors distinguish between new and long-term infections and identify if a secondary Hepatitis D coinfection is present. However, this test alone does not measure the extent of liver damage or confirm if a Hepatitis D infection is currently active without further testing.
