> This test measures IgM antibodies, which are proteins the immune system produces specifically to fight a recent or active measles infection. It helps show whether symptoms like fever and rash are caused by the measles virus. This distinction helps rule out other viral illnesses with similar signs. However, this test cannot determine if you have long-term immunity from a past vaccination and may yield negative results if testing occurs too early in the infection.
