Bordetella pertussis Antibodies, IgG

This test measures the amount of IgG antibodies your immune system has created against Bordetella pertussis, the bacteria that causes whooping cough. It helps show whether you have been exposed to this bacteria recently or have protection from a past vaccination. Doctors use this result to help determine if a lingering cough is related to whooping cough rather than another respiratory condition. However, because antibodies stay in the blood for a long time, this test cannot identify exactly when an infection occurred or diagnose an active infection without additional clinical information.
