This test measures specific antibodies in your blood that react to certain bacteria and yeast found in the digestive tract. It helps doctors evaluate chronic digestive symptoms like abdominal pain and diarrhea to determine if they are related to Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Specifically, the patterns of these antibodies help distinguish between Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. However, this test cannot provide a final diagnosis by itself and is usually combined with other exams like a colonoscopy.
