Antineutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies (ANCA)

This test measures specific antibodies in your blood that mistakenly attack your own white blood cells. It helps doctors investigate whether inflammation in your blood vessels, known as vasculitis, is causing symptoms in organs like the kidneys or lungs. These results assist in distinguishing autoimmune blood vessel disorders from other types of kidney or respiratory diseases. However, this test cannot diagnose a specific condition by itself and often requires a tissue biopsy to confirm the extent of any damage.
