Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Profile

This profile measures specific proteins called antibodies that the immune system produces when it mistakenly attacks the body's own tissues, particularly the joints. It helps doctors investigate the cause of persistent joint pain, stiffness, and swelling to see if an autoimmune reaction is involved. This testing helps distinguish rheumatoid arthritis from other forms of joint damage, such as osteoarthritis caused by aging or injury. However, these results alone cannot confirm a diagnosis, as some people with rheumatoid arthritis may not have these antibodies in their blood.
