Human T-Cell Lymphotropic Virus 1, 2 (HTLV-1/HTLV-2) Antibodies, Preliminary Test With Confirmation

This test measures antibodies in your blood to see if your immune system has reacted to Human T-Cell Lymphotropic Virus (HTLV) types 1 or 2. It helps determine if you have an infection that could be linked to certain rare blood or nerve conditions. If the initial screening detects the virus, a second confirmation step is performed to identify which specific type is present. However, a positive result only indicates exposure to the virus and does not diagnose active leukemia or predict if you will develop symptoms in the future.
