Coccidioides immitis Antibodies, IgG and IgM, EIA

This test measures specific antibodies, which are proteins your immune system creates to fight the fungus Coccidioides. It helps determine if you have been exposed to the fungus that causes Valley Fever, a respiratory illness common in the southwestern United States. These results help doctors distinguish Valley Fever from other lung infections like bacterial pneumonia or the flu. However, because antibodies can persist over time or react to other fungi, a positive result typically requires further testing to confirm a current diagnosis.
