# ANA by IFA, Reflex to Titer and Pattern

> This test measures antinuclear antibodies (ANA), which are proteins made by the immune system that can mistakenly attack the body's own cells. It helps show whether symptoms like fatigue, joint pain, or rashes might be caused by an autoimmune disorder. Doctors use these results to help rule out or investigate conditions such as lupus and other connective tissue diseases. Because these antibodies can also appear in healthy people or due to certain medications, a positive result does not diagnose a specific illness on its own.
