> This test measures specific antibodies in your blood that target a protein called heat shock protein 70 (hsp-70). It is primarily used to evaluate sudden or progressive hearing loss to see if the immune system might be attacking the inner ear. This helps doctors determine if hearing issues are likely caused by an autoimmune reaction. However, this test cannot diagnose a specific disease by itself, as these antibodies can also be found in other autoimmune or infectious conditions.
