This test detects the genetic material of three specific bacteria known to cause sexually transmitted infections. It helps show whether Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, or Mycoplasma genitalium are the cause of symptoms like discharge or pain during urination. Identifying the exact bacteria helps rule out other types of infections that require different treatments. However, this test does not screen for other sexually transmitted diseases, such as syphilis or HIV.
