Mycoplasma genitalium, NAA, Urine With Reflex to Macrolide Resistance Testing

This test detects genetic material from Mycoplasma genitalium, a bacterium that can cause sexually transmitted infections, using a urine sample. If the bacteria is present, the test automatically checks if it is resistant to specific antibiotics called macrolides to help guide effective treatment. This screening helps identify the cause of symptoms like painful urination or discharge and distinguishes this infection from other similar conditions. However, it does not detect other sexually transmitted diseases or determine the extent of any internal inflammation.
