# QuantiFERON®-TB Gold Plus

> This test measures how your immune system reacts to the bacteria that cause tuberculosis (TB) by detecting a specific substance released by your white blood cells. It helps show whether you have been infected with TB, which is important if you have known exposure to the disease or specific risk factors. This screening helps identify the presence of the bacteria, even if you do not currently have symptoms. However, this test cannot determine by itself if you have active, contagious tuberculosis or a latent infection that is currently inactive.
