It helps show whether an active infection is present, which is useful for routine screening or investigating symptoms like pain and discharge. Results from this test help rule out these specific sexually transmitted infections as the cause of discomfort. However, it does not detect other sexually transmitted diseases or determine how long an infection has been present.
