> This test detects the genetic material of Chlamydia trachomatis bacteria in the back of the throat. It helps show whether you have a chlamydia infection in the throat, which is often symptomless but can be spread through oral sex. This screening helps rule out chlamydia as the cause of a sore throat or a silent infection. However, this test only checks the throat and does not determine if you have infections in other parts of the body or other sexually transmitted diseases.
