# Insulin and C-Peptide

> This test measures the levels of insulin and C-peptide in your blood to evaluate how well your pancreas is producing its own insulin. Because C-peptide is released at the same time your body makes insulin, this test helps show whether your body is creating insulin naturally, even if you take insulin medication. These results help distinguish between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes or identify the cause of unexplained low blood sugar. However, this test does not diagnose a specific disease by itself and results must be interpreted alongside your blood glucose levels.
