Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) Antibody Profile
This test measures specific antibodies in your blood that your immune system produces to fight the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). It helps show whether you currently have an infection, had one in the past, or have never been exposed to the virus, which is the primary cause of infectious mononucleosis (mono). These results assist doctors in distinguishing mono from other illnesses that cause similar symptoms like fatigue, fever, and sore throat. While useful for tracking exposure, this test alone cannot determine the severity of an infection or provide a final diagnosis without a full clinical evaluation.
