It helps show whether conditions like fatty liver disease have progressed to advanced fibrosis, which is the thickening or scarring of liver tissue. This process helps identify patients at high risk for severe liver damage while ruling out those with low risk. However, this test does not diagnose the specific cause of liver injury and cannot replace a doctor’s complete clinical assessment.
