Salivary Cortisol, MS (Endocrine Sciences)
This test measures the amount of cortisol, a stress hormone produced by the adrenal glands, found in your saliva. It helps show whether your body is producing normal hormone levels, which is important for investigating symptoms like unexplained weight gain, muscle weakness, or chronic fatigue. This measurement is often used to help screen for conditions like Cushing’s syndrome or adrenal insufficiency. However, this test cannot diagnose the specific cause of an imbalance on its own and usually requires additional testing for confirmation.
