Salivary Cortisol (Two Specimens), MS (Endocrine Sciences)

This test measures the level of cortisol, a hormone that helps your body manage stress and energy, in your saliva. It helps show if your adrenal glands are releasing normal amounts of this hormone or if levels are unusually high or low. Doctors often use this test to screen for disorders like Cushing’s syndrome, where cortisol levels remain high when they should drop. However, this test cannot determine the exact cause of an imbalance or diagnose a specific disease without further medical evaluation.
