Salivary Cortisol (Three Specimens), MS (Endocrine Sciences)
This test measures the level of cortisol, a hormone that helps manage stress and energy, in three separate saliva samples. It helps show whether your cortisol levels follow a normal daily rhythm or remain abnormally high, which is relevant for investigating symptoms like rapid weight gain or fatigue. These results help doctors rule out or identify Cushing’s syndrome, a condition caused by excess cortisol in the body. However, this test cannot determine the specific cause of the hormone imbalance or diagnose a tumor without additional testing.
