Salivary Cortisol (Four Specimens), MS (Endocrine Sciences)

This test measures the level of cortisol, a stress hormone produced by your adrenal glands, in saliva samples collected four times throughout the day. By tracking these levels, the test helps show whether your body maintains a normal daily rhythm of hormone production. It is useful for evaluating conditions related to high cortisol, such as Cushing’s syndrome, or low cortisol, such as adrenal insufficiency. While it detects abnormal patterns, this test does not identify the underlying cause of the imbalance or provide a final diagnosis on its own.
