It helps show whether the body is experiencing an autoimmune reaction, which is the primary cause of type 1 diabetes. This information helps doctors distinguish type 1 diabetes from type 2 diabetes. However, this test does not measure current blood sugar levels or determine how much insulin the body is producing.
