# Anti-TPO Ab (RDL)

> This test measures the level of thyroid peroxidase (TPO) antibodies in your blood, which are proteins that mistakenly attack your thyroid gland. It helps determine if an autoimmune disorder is the underlying cause of thyroid issues, such as Hashimoto’s disease or Graves’ disease. This information is useful for distinguishing autoimmune thyroid problems from other types of thyroid dysfunction. However, this test does not measure actual thyroid hormone levels and cannot tell you how well your thyroid is currently functioning without additional testing.
