Insulin, Human
This test measures the amount of insulin, a hormone produced by your pancreas that helps your body turn blood sugar into energy. It helps show whether your body is making too much or too little insulin, which is useful for evaluating insulin resistance or unexplained low blood sugar. Doctors use these results to help distinguish between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes or to investigate tumors that produce insulin. However, this test cannot diagnose diabetes on its own and is usually interpreted alongside glucose test results.
