It helps show whether your immune system treats cotton fibers as a harmful invader, which can cause symptoms like wheezing, coughing, or skin irritation. This testing helps doctors distinguish a reaction to cotton dust from other environmental allergies or respiratory issues. However, a positive result does not predict the severity of a reaction and cannot diagnose specific lung conditions on its own.
