Ovalbumin
This test measures the amount of specific antibodies in your blood that react to ovalbumin, the primary protein found in egg whites. It helps determine if your immune system views this protein as a threat, which is useful for evaluating symptoms like hives or stomach pain after eating eggs. This information helps distinguish a specific immune reaction from other types of food sensitivities. However, the presence of antibodies indicates sensitization and cannot predict the severity of a future reaction or confirm a clinical diagnosis by itself.
