It helps show how well your metabolism is functioning and is often used to investigate unexplained symptoms like poor growth, developmental delays, or recurring illness. The results assist doctors in identifying or ruling out rare genetic conditions that affect how the body processes nutrients. However, this test cannot detect every metabolic disorder on its own, particularly if the chemical markers are not present at the time of testing.
