Selenium, Serum or Plasma

This test measures the amount of selenium, an essential mineral, in your blood. It helps show whether you have a nutritional deficiency or if you have been exposed to toxic levels of selenium through your job or supplements. Doctors use these results to rule out selenium poisoning or significant dietary shortages. However, this test cannot determine the specific source of exposure or diagnose resulting organ damage on its own.
