It is useful for monitoring individuals who may have been exposed to high amounts of strontium through industrial work or specific supplements. Knowing this level helps rule out strontium toxicity as a cause for symptoms affecting the bones or kidneys. However, a high result does not identify the exact source of exposure or diagnose specific bone diseases on its own.
