It helps show whether you have a high number of these particles, which can increase the risk of plaque building up in your arteries even if your standard cholesterol levels appear normal. This information assists doctors in evaluating your risk for developing heart disease and monitoring how well cholesterol-lowering treatments are working. However, this test does not directly detect existing blockages in your arteries or diagnose a specific heart condition on its own.
