Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) Antibodies to Early Antigen-Diffuse [EA(D)], IgG
This test looks for specific antibodies that your immune system produces when the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is actively multiplying in your body. It helps determine if you are currently experiencing an acute infection or a reactivation of the virus, which is often the cause of infectious mononucleosis (mono). Because these antibodies typically disappear within six months of recovery, their presence helps distinguish a current, active illness from a past infection. However, this test cannot diagnose a specific condition on its own and does not measure the exact amount of virus present.
